Strozzi Bistrò: Fabio Novembre’s Renaissance-inspired masterpiece in Florence

Fabio Novembre, the creative mind behind Novembre Studio, has once again showcased his design prowess with the creation of Strozzi Bistrò. Nestled within the prestigious courtyard of Palazzo Strozzi, a renowned Renaissance palace in the heart of Florence, this new venue perfectly captures the essence of its surroundings.

The symmetrical layout of the original cross vaults takes center stage, accentuated by stunning geometric flooring in various shades of grey. This clever division of space creates six distinct sectors, each with its own unique charm. The preexisting wall capitals have been seamlessly integrated with new, specially designed lighting, extending all the way to the floor through elegant pilasters. As a result, the room is transformed into a grand telescope, with its focal point being the magnificent mirror bottle rack that mirrors the shape of the original doorway.

The bar counter and kitchen area, on the other hand, exude a warm and inviting atmosphere. Upholstered in ochre leather with a brick pattern reminiscent of the exterior facade, they pay homage to the architectural beauty of the palace. Fabio Novembre’s artistic touch can be seen in the walls, adorned with a captivating blue covering, the museum’s social color, decorated with three crescent moons, heraldic symbols of the Strozzi family.

To complete this remarkable project, an outdoor dehors offers a breathtaking view of the palace’s courtyard. This area often serves as a canvas for contemporary art installations by renowned artists such as Anish Kapoor and Jeff Koons. Novembre Studio, having previously worked at the Una Hotel in Florence, once again demonstrates its ability to create designs that are both respectful of the location’s history and expressive in their own right.
